Activity:  DUS.AD010.001.001 / BERD Flows European Project

The study aims to investigate and improve knowledge of the phenomenon of Research and Development internationalization by multinational companies, which the existing literature highlights as a crucial factor guided by two possible drivers: support to production in foreign markets and increase in technological knowledge by drawing from sources located in other countries. The core of the project is the creation of a database concerning R&D expenditure by foreign-owned companies and by domestic-owned companies abroad, along with an analysis of the data collected. Specific aspects investigated include:
- the impact of the 2008-2009 downturn on the host countries;
- the growth and diversification of the population of companies which internationalize their research and development; and
- the integration between Central-Eastern European countries and Western European countries.
