Coordinators:
Luca Tricarico, CNR-IRCrES; Antonia Gravagnuolo, CNR ISPC – Institute of Heritage Science; Mariarosaria Angrisano, Università Telematica Pegaso; Francesca Bragaglia, Politecnico di Torino.
The session focuses on place-based development, proximity-oriented practices, and governance and planning frameworks as alternatives to mass tourism and growth-driven territorial models.
It aims to bring together contributions that critically examine:
- local and regional policy evaluation,
- strategic planning and collaborative governance,
- social and cultural innovation,
- regeneration processes in inner areas, rural territories, and small towns,
- transition pathways towards more sustainable and inclusive forms of territorial development.
We welcome theoretical, empirical, and policy-oriented papers, including exploratory and work-in-progress contributions, from a multidisciplinary perspective (urban and regional studies, planning, geography, public policy, cultural studies, organizational studies & management).
Accepted papers will be published in the Springer Scopus-indexed conference proceedings, in line with the NMP publication framework.
Full paper submission deadline:
January 23, 2026 – 11:59 p.m. (CST)
Preliminary versions are welcome, as the proceedings format allows for revision rounds.
