Economic sustainability of industrial sectors and chains

Competitiveness and efficiency are prerequisites for the economic sustainability of companies.

The main research questions concern: how industrial sectors and chains change, what relationship exists between competitiveness-dimension-specialization, what dynamics of development and entrepreneurship we are assisting, how risk management changes, which industrial policies promote economic sustainability.

The impact of the changes is assessed through the application of statistical and econometric methodologies on large and small samples, with information acquired from public databases (Aida, Istat-Asia, Istat-Coeweb, European Patent Office, Accredia), face-to-face interviews, questionnaires, web analysis.

The starting point is the analysis of company and social balance sheets for the evaluation of performance, efficiency and productivity in reference to non-industrial systems as well. We use various analysis techniques: simple and composite budget indices, neural networks, genetic algorithms, DEA, cluster analysis, etc.
