Bioeconomy

Food systems are at the center of many challenges - food security, sustainability of supply chains, fight against fodd waste, support for local identity and biodiversity, and education - intensified by the Covid-19 pandemic which acts as a multiplier.

This centrality is present in the UN 2030 Agenda and in the European Farm to Fork strategy, the strategy for the Bioeconomy and the Green Deal.

Cnr-Ircres contributes to these challenges through a line of research on the bioeconomy that includes studies on primary sectors (agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture) and on processing chains that use biological resources (including waste) for the production of food and bio-based products. -based, from business level to sector level, with a view to sustainability.

Cnr-Ircres works on this line of research with highly interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary projects and by means of research and innovation, communication and education, support to decision-making and policy processes.
