New technologies for cultural heritage

The staff of CNR-IRCrES has been developing technical-informatics skills in the creation and customization of thematic repositories. By means of open-source software, they are involved in post-digitization projects for the management of the networking of material with open-accessibility criteria. This includes the development and the adaptation of server platforms and software, which are inserted in virtualized and redundant infrastructures; it counts also the design and the implementation of repository systems and front-end supplies that enable the storage, the indexing and the linkage of digital objects for their presentation, query and sharing through advanced protocols (IIIF). CNR-IRCrES collaborates with (New York) for the development of "Archipelago", a new architecture for the access to digital resources. Among the outputs realized so far: thematic exhibits; textual, linguistic and iconographic datasets, network of collaborations. All this to make book collections accessible, to enhance and share them with local, national and international communities.
