Abstract

Electric vehicles are often considered a relevant asset in order to mitigate the effects of pollution and to help solve the problems of climate change. Institutions at national and international level, such as the European Union, are strongly pushing – through the implementation of specific policies – for a rapid abandonment of internal combustion engines and the simultaneous adoption of electric propulsion. This rapid transition, implemented by companies due to an external push, does not take into account the possible effects on employment and on the evolution of the automotive industrial system. This work tries to highlight these effects.

Keywords: automotive, combustion engines, electric propulsion, employment.
