His research focuses on the documentation, analysis, and enhancement of tangible and intangible cultural heritage through the design and development of digital information systems, databases, and research infrastructures for the humanities. His work integrates cultural anthropology, heritage studies, and digital technologies, with particular attention to documentary systems, knowledge organization and dissemination, and digital environments supporting research and heritage management.

He served as scientific advisor to the UNESCO World Heritage Office of the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities, in the context of national processes associated with the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
