Abstract

This chapter conducts a quantitative analysis to identify the key determinants of Work-Life Balance (WLB). Using data from the European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS), we examine the factors that most significantly influence European citizens’ satisfaction with Work-Life Balance. Our analysis assesses the relative importance of different categories of variables affecting workers’ well-being. Initially, we consider three main age groups, with a particular focus on older workers and how the determinants of WLB vary across European geographical zones. The findings will provide valuable insights for policymakers by highlighting cross-country differences and offering evidence-based recommendations to improve WLB across diverse European contexts.

Keywords: Work-Life Balance, determinants, European Working Conditions Survey, individual and contextual factors.
