Andrea Simone holds a PhD in Economic and Political Geography from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” (2020). He was an Early Stage Researcher for the Marie Curie project “MAPS-LED,” with a secondment to Boston (USA) at Northeastern University (2015-2016). He has also held research positions at ISTAT (2016-2018) and at the University for Foreigners of Siena (2020-2024). He is currently a fixed-term researcher at IRCrES (CNR), working within the WP3 and WP5 of the FOSSR project, specifically on task 3.4 – Online Research Panel. His research interests include urban and regional economics, geography of innovation, and the role of public policies in regional diversification. He also works at the intersection of social movements, urban commons, and socio-economic inequalities, both as a scholar and as a political activist. Since 2017, he has been a board member of the “Nonna Roma” OdV, a mutual aid food bank in Rome that addresses poverty and inequality.
