Il Torino Jazz Festival: partecipazione e consumi culturali nel 2021 durante la pandemia

Abstract

A study for the ninth edition of the “Torino Jazz Festival” (TJF) was developed to better understand the characteristics of the audience. The 2021 edition of the festival was constrained to the ongoing observance of anti-Covid-19 laws, but it allowed for the gradual resumption of event-related activities to start to be enjoyed. This chapter analyzes statistics from a sample of 560 concertgoers who attended at least one TJF 2021 performance. It maps, especially, their socio-demographic traits, the relationship with the festival, the pre-Covid cultural consumption and the possible changes in it. Furthermore, there is a focus on the neophytes’ features, which could help the organizers of the festival meet the needs of the rising demand, and a focus on attendance across two festivals organized by the same institution. This additional analysis is obtained by dividing the sample of TJF 2021 spectators between those who have never attended “MITO SettembreMusica” classical music festival and those who have attended it at least once.
