Andrea Orazio Spinello is a researcher at CNR-IRCrES, Rome Unit. He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology, a second-level Master Programme in Evaluation of Local Development Interventions from the University of Catania, and a Ph.D. in Communication, Research, Innovation (with specialization in Methodology of Social Sciences) from Sapienza University of Rome.

His research focuses on Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI) studies, with particular emphasis on:

  • Research and Development (R&D) policies, including public funding for R&D and the assessment of the alignment of public research investments with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
  • Research evaluation and transformations in research practices;
  • Universities’ public engagement.

 

Currently, Andrea serves as a Work Package (WP) leader and Executive Committee member for the PNRR-IR project FOSSR – Fostering Open Science in Social Science Research. He also leads the CNR local unit for the PRIN 2022 project PLACES, which investigates universities’ public engagement. Additionally, he is involved in the European Research Infrastructure for Science and Innovation policy Studies (RISIS), where he manages two datasets from the Italian node: EFIL and JoREP 2.0.

Andrea also teaches Quantitative Methods for User Research at LUMSA University.
