Andrea Orazio Spinello is a researcher at the CNR-IRCrES. He holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and a 2nd level Master’s Programme in ‘Evaluation of Local Development Interventions’ from the University of Catania, and a Ph.D. in ‘Communication, Research, Innovation’ (‘Methodology of Social Sciences’ curriculum) at the Sapienza University of Rome.
His research interests concern ‘Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) studies’ and focus on public research funding policies and systems; evaluation of public research; strategies of actors involved in the implementation of transnational research programmes; development of indicators in the STI field; use of research infrastructures in scientific work.
He participates in the European Research Infrastructure for Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Studies (RISIS), working on the management of two Italian nodes (EFIL and JoREP 2.0). He has participated in research projects at European and Italian level. He is currently one of the WP leaders and member of the Executive Committee of the PNRR-IR project ‘FOSSR – Fostering Open Science in Social Science Research’.
He is author or co-author of several research articles published in national and international journals, book chapters, technical reports for the European Commission and policy briefs.
