The Economic, environmental and organizational performance of the Italian hydric industry

Abstract

The quality of the hydric service is fundamental for the well-being of citizens and operators must be able to guarantee both the access to the entire population and the good quality and tariff levels. The management of the hydric system concerns environmental issue, especially considering the grid loss problem. Indeed, climate changes and long dry spells highlighted the crucial role and the increasing relevance of water resource for the earth. Grid losses represent the waste of a critical resource that will tend to be increasingly scarce and therefore their reduction constitutes a fundamental strategy. The methodologies used for the analysis are based on efficiency methodologies, which allows to evaluate the resource preservation.
