Bilateral project – Visit of researchers from Taiwan
From 14 to 18 July, as part of the CNR-IRCRES project “Conservation and Restoration of Ecosystem Services for Promoting Biodiversity: A Critical Zone Perspective to Compare Italy and Taiwan Mountain Study Sites”, three research colleagues from Taiwan visited Italy:
- Dr Herlin Chien, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (Taiwan);
- Prof (River) Jr-Chuan Huang, Department of Geography, National Taiwan University (Taiwan);
- Dr Chung-I Chen, Department of Forestry, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology (Taiwan).
In addition to a talk and the project’s initial meeting held on Monday at CNR-IRCrES, the visitors toured the Gran Paradiso National Park, where they visited the project sites (Colle del Nivolet and Noaschetta) and local exhibitions curated by the Park. They also met with Park researchers and some local residents to reconstruct the dynamics behind land use changes in the area.
The week concluded at the Institute with a recap of the key findings and the definition of a roadmap for the project’s development.
The project involves CNR researchers from four institutes:
- From CNR-IRCrES: Lisa Sella, Elena Ragazzi, and research associate Francesca Silvia Rota;
- From CNR-IGG: Maddalena Pennisi, Gianna Vivaldo, Ilaria Baneschi;
- From CNR-IRET: Andrea Scartazza, Olga Gavrichkova;
- From CNR-IIA: Maria Patrizia Adamo.
Chiara Richiardi, a researcher from ENEA, also took part in the activities.
